The company noted its 2016 result is its best annual volume to date, and marks the 10th consecutive year of growth. It added it secured a 17.1% share of the domestic industry’s 359,572-unit annual performance.
MMPC credited the increase in sales to both its passenger car and light commercial vehicle segments, which grew 14.4% and 12.1%, respectively, in 2016. The car maker sold 20,564 passenger cars, boosted by deliveries of the Mirage model, and 38,916 light commercial vehicles. The performance of Mitsubishi truck and bus models also rose 36.8%.
This year, MMPC said it is looking to sell 75,000 vehicles, a 22% increase from 2016 sales, as it expects the local production of the Mirage to bump up deliveries.
The Mirage is being built under the government’s Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy, program. MMPC is scheduled to roll out the first locally assembled Mirage on Feb. 17.
